She was born in Athens, Georgia and grew up in South Korea and different parts of the United States. Artist statement: My work explores feelings of loss of self, lament and dark humor through the figurative fantasy. Decapitated and mutilated characters in cartoon-like rendering in a bright jewel tone world lighten and objectify suffering, violence, and disability of both physical and mental reality, thus intensifying the displacement of oneself in an ironically colorful world. By decapitating the characters, which represents separation from the self and reason, they transcend into a world where the unconsciousness and perception are the only drives of action. In doing so, I create a new version of mythology - tales of monsters, warriors, and tragedies. Above all, I am interested in the immediacy of a living being – its deep desire and pain from the physical body.
